Personally, I don't like dress up games at all, but it's good to see someone trying to do something new with the genre. It was original for what type of game it was.

The sprites all looked good, and there were a lot of options to chose from. However, it wasn't all that entertaining. I also think a mute button would have been a great addition to this submission, because I hate having to go and mute my music and adjust my computer's volume when I start a submission.

There isn't too much I could recommend to improve this submission, it was technically sound, but I just didn't like it all that much.

Well man, this is a great example of conflict for me. The RPG was entirely well built, and the graphics were actually better than they first appeared. The biggest problem with the submission was that it didn't do anything new. Others have done the same basic concept before, and your game really didn't develop too far beyond this concept.

I thought that the game was very well programmed. It's clear you spent a lot of time working on this, and also a lot of time testing for bugs, as I found not one bug. The battle system worked flawlessly, and I never saw anything out of place or got incorrect stats or inventory. My only issue that even sort of falls into this department is what Fro said. I really wish there was a confirmation screen before you switched your guys out. I actually did this twice when I meant not to, but fortunately, it wasn't too big of a game killer. This issue isn't even really a programming issue, more just something that should have come up during play testing, and I understand that it didn't. It's not really a bug at all.

The art at first seemed very average, and there was very little animation during fights and anywhere else in the game for that matter. The art actually was better than I thought; at points, it looked below average for a submission of this caliber, but at others (particularly in the town) it looked well done. The biggest issue with the art is that sometimes the animation looked a little funky. A little more work in making sure things flowed together a little better, and there should have been more variety in the attack animations. Still, this was more of a plus than a minus for the game.

Overall, the game had so, so much potential. Everything was professionally done, like how you included quite a variety of sounds, but managed to keep the file size very low. A little more time spent in the art department, and a little more time spent in the design phase thinking of something new to do with the genre would make this game one of the best on Newgrounds. I do some flash games, so I know how hard making a full, working RPG is, and that alone is an accomplishment. I'd love to see a sequel that addresses the issues the game has, because this is close, very close. Besides, now that you have a full engine working, the sequel will take almost no time at all ;). Good luck guys, this is so close to being front page material.

Thanks :P i programmed it and tested... the only bug that was found by ng users was corrected the next day and it was a stupid mistake i made :p you can see it in the description.

Yeah that is a good idea for part 2 thanks you and fro :D

" Yeah the true is that i only made the desing like backgrounds (except the battle background) and menu and panel option, the rest it was made by tamisise... but you can see if you want hoshinofuru arena... it has most of the graphics that will have part 2 but is not the part 2! :P

Thanks a lot :P and i making the second part from 0 :p so it will take a time... but we got all how it will be and the graphics already made for part 2 :P

THANKS A LOT FOR THE REVIEW :D

I liked the game, and it was well done for the most part. I liked the animated instructions that were given, those were cool. The animation was pretty well done and the design didn't really have any issues. I thought the idea was a little simple to turn into an entire game, I felt like this should be a mini game while I was playing it. Everything was very professionally done though, which impressed me quite a lot.

I liked the game play, but I didn't really end up using the power-ups at all. I thought it could have used more depth. while it's a really simple game in concept, it needed something more in execution to avoid being a game you play once and never go back to. i'm not pretending to know what that is, as i'm just the critic, but i'm just throwing that out there. it is what it is i guess. newgrounds needs games you play once and never go back to just like it needs more complex games, i just know i try to develop the latter, not the former.

The art was very well done. From the menu buttons the the graphics themselves. the only complaint i had in this department was that the words looked a little odd in the instructions to me. that could just be me though, it went by quickly enough that it was pretty hard to notice. it really could just be the way i was looking at it i guess, but might be worth taking a look at.

there were no bugs in the game that i discovered, which is a testament to solid playtesting, and always makes a game better in my book. there's nothing worse than playing a game for 5 to 10 mins. only to discover a game breaking bug, so, major kudos for that.

I loved the sound in the game, it was one of my favorite parts of the submission. I also loved the play on words in the title of 'minor' and 'miner'. great work guys, and i know it's cliche, but keep it up. good luck.

ProfessorFlash responds:

Well aren't flash games meant to be minigames? I personally grin every time I see these big complex games submitted that take you 10 minutes just to learn how to play. I like my games simple to get in to but still a challenge to master, I hope I achieved at least a bit of that with this game.

You're first to mention the word play in the title :). Good that someone noticed it :).
Thanks for your review.

Needs more

So, while you do technically teach people things about flash, you seriously need to add more to it before you submit. I don't like the layout you use (it makes it hard to see any particular thing when it's just tiny screenshots), but I do think you have potential.

You do explain what you teach well, each of the menu options was well explained. You don't, however, go beyond that. You don't show people how to tween, or how to use simple actionscript, you don't even explain the art tools.

You need to think about what you want to teach people with your tut. Do you want them to learn art? Game making? Buttons? Find something that people will be able to have a produced project at the end of, and focus on that.

I'm sorry if this review seems a little harsh, as I said, you have potential, but you just need to work at your layout, and actually teach people how to USE flash. Keep working at it though and it could get there, good luck.

danishx83 responds:

Thanks a lot for reviews from all of you, since yours is the most detailed that's why I am answering this one,
1. I thought of sequence and that's why started from top left of the screen.
2. These are just the introduction of the words that are written there, what they actually do, is far away for the kind of audience i have in mind.
3. Yes in next I will try to improve the readability.
4. The graphics and beauty of tutorial, well I thought of it but came to a point that if i get into that, than I might not even be able to post a single tutorial.

Nice but...

It's a good tutorial in that it's very flashy and looks great. However, it is kind of light on the whole explanation for any code other than stop() and play(). I was actually thinking of doing another tutorial myself. Would you be interested in doing some art for it? You can take a look at my old tut. to see how much I need good art.

But, anyway, nice tut. I recommended it.

JKAmovies responds:

Yes, I am always eager to help whenever possible. Sorry if this is a late response, I don't really check back on old flash movies/games too often.

Send me a PM about your ideas and I'd love to help wherever possible.

good idea

i like the idea, and what presentation there was is decent, however, there is a lot to be desired. you need to add something other than just one piano key area to make sounds w/, and the guitar should have a totally different interface altogether. you need drums, a bass guitar, and more instruments as well. it seemed like a quick flash, but adding these things could get you a ten. also, some of the sound quality (the bells) was rather low. the art is alright, but could be better. and you need a way to be able to play more than one sound and more than one instrument at once, and make it into a full synth.

so, overall, good job, but there is so much untapped potential in this flash, i really want to see you flesh it out a lot more. hope i helped, and good luck. 4/5 7/10

ProximityGames responds:

What do you mean by play more than one sound?
If you mean piano keys, then you can play two keys at a time by using the keyboard
thanks for the review. It was very helpful. I will try to add these features if i get the time :)

good idea

i really like this gadget, as it helped me understand what to, and what not to, flag as abusive. it's going to be a great help for people who don't know what they're doing when they flag reviews. also, it was fun to play, making it more likely people will sit through the whole thing. throw in some more reviews to flag (ten is a low number), and an explanation of what you got wrong (seeing as this is supposed to be helpful) and then you'd get the extra two points. excellent idea, excellent presentation. 5/5 8/10

coocooletmoi responds:

Yeah, I certainly will include all that!

good

i really like the idea because i'm a drummer, and i also like the animation, but i do have some issues, so here goes:

you need to make the drums all register to keys, the only ones i could find were the space bar and the arrow keys, and no high-hat at all.

it seems to lag a little, but that may be my computer, so disregard this if no one else has an issue w/ it.

you need something more than just the sounds, so try something like punk-o-matic, where you have multiple instruments and you get save slots and other animations, etc.

the sound quality is lacking, but i've tried to record my drums before too, so i understand.

overall this is a great little gadget, so don't feel down coz of my issues, i liked it a lot. keep up the good work man.

JMKit responds:

Hey, no that's cool, the feedback is good, i understand how basic it seems and really it was always more of an interactive image than anything, but if i get round to making a new one i'll take all that on board.. thanks!

nice

i like how you took a dead concept and made it funny again. this alone earns you 5 or so points. the flash itself was well done before the hospital part. it really looks like you can animate from looking at before the hospital part, but then the drawings look like very rough sketches of what the final product could be, not anywhere near a final product. also, it could've been a lot longer, as it only took about a hundred clicks to get through the whole game. i also liked the ending. on a side note: can you click on the button when it's walking out of the hospital? a good looking game here, and i hope you keep up the good work. 8/10, 4/5.

Djflashstep responds:

ty, and im no artist, so i wasent going for a finished product look, im more of an animator

ty for the nice score!

okay.

it's okay, and useful to me because i'm converting to as3 from as2. but it took me two tries to figure out the pattern, and so you need something more to add. not horrible, but very small and not very eye catching. good luck.

coocooletmoi responds:

Developper tools are always boring.
